While chatting exclusively with PEOPLE about her partnership with CORE Hydration, the singer and actress, 23, also opens up about how she and boyfriend DDG picked out a name for their baby boy Halo, who was born late last year.

“It was actually my boyfriend's idea,” Bailey says of her newborn son’s moniker. “He's the one who came up with his name.”

“We just agreed, and we loved it,” continues The Little Mermaid star. “I love the name Halo."

Asked if there is any connection between her child's name and the song of the same name that mentor Beyoncé released off of her I Am... Sasha Fierce album in 2008, Bailey says with a laugh, “He for sure has a theme song.”

Bailey announced the birth of her first baby on Instagram in December. At the time, she shared a photo of her manicured hand holding that of a tiny hand with a gold bracelet etched with the name "Halo."

"Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my halo 🥰👼🏽 ✨the world is desperate to know you 😉🤣♥️," Bailey captioned the sweet post.

Weeks later, in a video posted on his YouTube page, DDG, 26, opened up about his journey into fatherhood for the first time, as he called Bailey — whom he has been with for over a year — a "great mom."

"Me and Halle had a baby together. I wouldn't chose no other person in the world to have a child with. We learning. She's a great mom. Like it's crazy. She's amazing," the rapper said in the video.

According to Bailey, her journey into motherhood has been unlike anything she has ever faced before.

"It's so exciting, this new role for me," she tells PEOPLE with a wide smile. "I'm obsessed with my baby boy. He's the sweetest angel in the world."

Through her partnership with CORE Hydration, which she is working on with sister Chloe Bailey, the "Angel" songstress says the water brand's messaging goes "hand in hand with what I need to remind myself to do."

"I am breastfeeding, and it takes a lot out of you. You have to drink so much water," Bailey says. "So the fact that CORE Hydration has electrolytes and everything else, and the pH balance is really good, it's what I actually need for myself."

"It's really helping me as I go into this new journey, because I've never done this before," she adds. "I'm discovering so many different things about myself. It's like a dream come true."
