Harry & Meghan series claims there's 'evidence' of negative briefings from the palace

The second half of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix documentary alleges there is 'evidence' the royal family briefed the press negative stories about the couple.

Part II of Harry & Meghan premieres on Netflix on 15 December and is teasing explosive revelations about the inner workings of Britain's monarchy.

In a newly released trailer, it is claimed there is 'evidence' negative stories about Markle were planted in the press by the palace.

A clip is shown of Jenny Afia, Markle's lawyer, who says: "There was a real kind of war against Meghan and I've certainly seen evidence that there was negative briefing from the palace against Harry and Meghan to suit other peoples' agendas."

Lucy Fraser, a friend of the princess, also alleges that Markle became a 'scapegoat' for the royal family when they wanted to bury other news in the media.

She claims: "They would feed on her whether they were true or not to avoid other less favourable stories being printed."

Markle herself also appears in the trailer, repeating the allegations against the royal family: "A story about someone in the family would pop up for a minute and they'd go 'we gotta make that go away'."

Since it premiered on Netflix last week, Harry & Meghan has become Netflix's biggest documentary launch ever.

According to the streaming service, the first three episodes, which were released together, clocked up 81.55 million viewing hours around the world.

Netflix say more than 28 million households watched at least some of the documentary.

Harry & Meghan was also the second most watched series around the world for Netflix the week it was released, only behind Wednesday.

After deciding to forego being working members of the royal family, the couple signed a deal with Netflix worth at least $100m over several years.

Harry & Meghan Part II will stream on Netflix from Thursday, 15 December.
