Hayden Panettiere is still thinking pink!

The Scream star, 34, showed off her latest pink look, but this time with a hint of green. In a new Instagram post, the actress wore another new hairdo, which follows her recent shift from blonde to pink.

Panettiere wore a denim chambray button-down shirt, with a full makeup look, including a nude pinkish lip gloss and shimmery pink eyeshadow that work together to highlight her pink hair.

“Love my new watermelon 🍉 vibes up top! Thanks @erickohair you’re the best! Xoxo” wrote the Nashville star.

While Panettiere has been sporting the pink locks for September, she hasn’t confirmed whether these new colors are permanent changes to her look.

The new look might be surprising, but Panettiere revealed in March to Women's Health that she has privately grappled with changes to her hair. In her interview, she explained that she suffered from severe hair loss due to her alcohol addiction.

Panettiere said her alcohol addiction began when she was 22 as a coping mechanism to regulate stress. By 2014 and after the birth of her daughter, Kaya, the actress was dealing with postpartum depression and a neck injury. Panettiere explained she then would drink alcohol to mitigate her anxiety and consume opioid pills for her physical pain.

“I should have gone on antidepressants [to cope with the postpartum depression], but you have to find the right one that works for you,” Panettiere explained. “They don’t mix well with alcohol, and I wasn’t ready to stop drinking.”

Then in 2015 and during the production of Nashville, she checked into a treatment center for the first time. While she continued a career in Hollywood, starring in Nashville and Custody, she relapsed.

In an attempt to manage her stress and anxiety, the actress took a break from acting in 2018. Although she was no longer working, she still used alcohol as a coping mechanism. By the time she turned 30, she noticed how her alcohol addiction began to impact her physical health.

“My body was like, ‘enough,’” Panettiere said. “I hit 30. My face was swollen. I had jaundice. My eyes were yellow. I had to go to a liver specialist. I was holding on to weight that wasn’t normally there. My hair was thin and coming out in clumps.”

During this time, Panettiere recalled that she also struggled with “sleep deprivation” as a result of her alcohol addiction. "Sleep is massive. It affects your motor skills, your ability to think, and your overall health,” she explained.

By 2021, she reached out for professional help, entered a 12-step program, and attended intensive trauma therapy.
