Some big HBO series are being added to Netflix as part of a new deal between Warner Bros Discovery and the streamer.

It was recently reported that shows including Insecure would be joining the rival service – with the aforementioned series now available for US users.

It is currently unclear if the shows, which include Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Six Feet Under and Ballers, will be available outside the US in places such as the UK, though it has emerged that True Blood will be available internationally.

Digital Spy has reached out to Netflix for clarification on whether the shows will be available for UK users.

According to Deadline, the plans are part of corporate finance considerations for parent company Warner Bros Discovery, with CEO David Zaslav previously suggesting openness to forgo exclusivity and license content in order to boost the bottom line.

It comes after HBO's US-based streaming service HBO Max rebranded to Max back in May.

Meanwhile, HBO recently addressed the possibility of spin-off shows for one of its recent flagship series Succession.

"I'll never say never but my instinct, and based on a number of conversations about the evolution of Succession and these characters, at this stage, there is no intention of spinning any one character off," HBO head of drama Francesca Orsi told Deadline.

"Jesse [Armstrong], should he do a series again, I think it will be entirely original. Whether it’s based on IP or not, I’m not sure, but it will be a new show, a new idea entirely."

"There is maybe sadness in that I don’t have the opportunity to build something with him," she added, "at least not for now."
