High schooler two weeks from graduation is killed in train collision, Indiana cops say

A 19-year-old who was weeks from graduating high school was killed when a train crashed into his SUV, Indiana authorities say.

Logan Blueher, a senior at South Vigo High School in Terre Haute, was identified Tuesday, May 16, as the victim in Monday’s crash, according to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office.

Blueher was the only occupant inside the SUV, the sheriff’s office said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

South Vigo High School said Blueher was scheduled to graduate in two weeks. He planned to attend Purdue University.

“Logan was funny, smart, and loyal,” the school said. “He loved his car, his friends, and most of all, he loved animals.”

His love of animals extended to Heritage Animal Hospital, where he worked. The animal hospital called him an “incredible human being.”

He worked at the animal hospital for nearly three years and hoped to become a veterinarian, according to the Tribune-Star.

“When he first started here, he was your typical teenage kid that had no plans,” Heritage practice manager Sarah Crabb told the Tribune-Star. “It was a joy to watch him grow into having a plan and having all these dreams and things he was actually accomplishing,”

Blueher’s high school said it would honor his memory with a project to help animals at the hospital and local humane society.

Kala Koch, a registered veterinary technician at the animal hospital, shared fond memories of working with Blueher.

“Always a pleasure to work with and someone I take pride in having met in this world,” she said in a Facebook post.
