Highway 1 reopened in both directions in Vancouver, Burnaby
Highway 1 has been reopened in both directions following a closure between First Avenue in Vancouver and Kensington Avenue in Burnaby due to a police incident.
DriveBC warned commuters that there would continue to be delays due to heavy congestion from the temporary closure on Tuesday afternoon.
In Burnaby, westbound vehicles were backed up for several kilometres, and traffic was moving slowly along side streets as drivers tried to find another route.
East-bound traffic in Vancouver was backed up to the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Bridge, as of 3:30 p.m. PT, according to Google's live tracking mapping.
