Highway 401 at Mavis Road reopens after truck rollover

All lanes of Highway 401 near Mavis Road in Mississauga have reopened Monday morning after a truck full of glass plates rolled and smashed, closing the roadway for hours.

Ontario Provincial Police say the roadway reopened around 8:15 a.m.

A tractor trailer carrying large glass plates rolled over around 1 a.m., shattering the entire load all over the highway. Police and work crews spend the overnight hours trying to clean heaps of broken glass from the roadway.

The truck driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

One man was also arrested at the scene after he tried to drive his car through the emergency vehicles.
