Holiday help: Your 2023 guide to Easter and Passover meals in Charlotte

Easter and Passover are nearing, and it’s time to make holiday meal plans for your Charlotte gatherings.

This year, Passover lasts from the evening of Wednesday, April 5, through the evening of Thursday, April 13; and Easter is Sunday, April 9. So we’ve rounded up a list of offerings from local Charlotte restaurants and meal services to help ensure you’ve got plenty of options for brunch, complete dinners or however you choose to celebrate with family and friends.

Here’s a list of places to consider for your holiday meals in Charlotte, whether you choose to stay home with takeout or dine in-person:

Buttermilk Sky Pie

Location: 16836 Birkdale Commons Pkwy, Huntersville, NC 28078

Buttermilk Sky Pie is offering pre-orders on Easter pies and and cookies. Its seasonal offering is Lemon Icebox Pie, a blend of tangy citrus and sweet creamy filling in a buttery graham cracker crust with whipped cream cheese topping.

Deadline: While supplies last. Easter pre-orders open Monday, March 20 and are limited to 9” size only; 4” pies will be first come, first serve and are in limited quantity.

Price: Prices vary upon flavor and size, but many 9” pies are $28, including the Lemon Icebox. All walk-in pies Easter weekend April 7-8 will be $35. Thumbprint cookies are $12.99/dozen.

Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen

Location: 4001-C Yancey Rd. #100, Charlotte, NC 28217

Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen is offering a Passover menu that comes ready to reheat, with options for main dishes including brisket, seared striped bass, roasted chicken, seared salmon, pot roast or roasted eggplant. A Seder Plate Pack is also available, with roasted lamb bone, parsley, salt water, vegetable, one hard boiled egg, and a pint of pear and fig charoset.

Its Easter menu also comes ready to reheat, with options including roast lamb shoulder, seared Wagyu flank steak, seared striped bass, roasted chicken, seared salmon or roasted eggplant.

Church and Union Charlotte

Church and Union will be serving an Easter brunch buffet from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Brunch offerings will include:

  • Scrambled eggs

  • Home fries, biscuits and French toast, grits and assorted pastries

  • Bagels and lox

  • Bacon, sausage links, turkey sausage and sausage gravy

  • Fried chicken

  • Oyster bar and shrimp cocktail

  • Local mixed greens.

Red Salt by David Burke is offering a three-course prix fixe Easter brunch. Diners will get a choice of appetizer, main and dessert, plus biscuits and cornbread for the table.

Main options include:

  • Maine lobster and asparagus benedict with slow poached egg and caviar hollandaise

  • Roasted Rack of Lamb with fennel sausage, farro and mushroom ratatouille

YAFO Kitchen

YAFO’s Passover meal feeds 5-7 and includes matzo ball soup, pomegranate honey-braised chicken, potato kugel, Yafo Brussels with dates, and white balsamic roasted butternut squash with Aleppo pepper honey. Dessert is flourless chocolate cake. Adding extra chicken or brisket to the package is available at extra charge.
