Home and Away newcomer on real-life connections to Parata family

Home and Away spoilers follow.

Home and Away fans in Australia have already met Jordi Webber's character Kahu, coming to Summer Bay for a little family reunion.

The laidback surfer is revealed to be none other than Tane's cousin, wreaking havoc on his new domestic bliss with wife Felicity. In real life, however, it seems that Webber has some connections to a few actors playing members of the Parata family that made him fit right in from the start.

In a recent interview, Webber explained he already knew Ethan Browne, who plays Tane on the Aussie soap, through two other cast members.

"I actually already knew Ethan. I am really good friends with Rob Kipa-Williams and Kawakawa Fox-Reo (who played Tane's brother Ari and nephew Nikau respectively), so I'd met Ethan whilst catching up with the boys in Oz," he told Stuff.

"We got along, but I didn't know him super well. And then when he and I got to filming we became close which is really cool," he continued.

The Home and Away newcomer also shared some behind-the-scenes details about his friendship with Fox-Reo, who exited the soap in scenes aired in Australia earlier this year.

"When Kawa came back from Europe, he crashed out with me for a couple of days and it's really funny that while I was using his room on the show, he was using my bed in real life," he said.

In upcoming scenes for UK viewers, Kahu asks Tane for a job at the gym. After Tane grants his cousin a temporary gig, things turn sour when Kahu reveals he has no qualifications. Will Tane get into trouble?

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.

In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7plus.

Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.
