Home invasion robbery reported near Capitol Campus and suspect is at large, state warns

The public was asked to avoid the South Capitol neighborhood and the West Campus of the Capitol on Thursday morning after a home invasion robbery occurred and the suspect was on the loose.

An alert was sent out from the state Department of Enterprise Services at 10:18 a.m. regarding the situation. According to the alert, a home invasion/robbery occurred at a home in the South Capitol neighborhood behind the Pritchard Building. The home was on Sylvester Street Southeast.

The suspect was described in the alert as a white man wearing dark jeans and a black sweatshirt. There is a white Ford Explorer with a dark cover over the license plate that may be associated with the suspect.

The person is still at large, according to the alert, and anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call 911.

The Washington State Patrol will have a heightened presence on the Capitol Campus.
