How do you honour Fort McMurray wildfire heroes? Grow a corn maze

From ground level it looks like an ordinary corn field.

From above, it's a tribute to the men and women who fought Fort McMurray's wildfire back in May.

The corn maze traces the outline of a police officer and a firefighter. It also features the men and women, ordinary residents, who helped them.

Brad Friesen and his team at Dunvegan Gardens started working on the maze as soon as they were allowed back into the city in June after the evacuation.

"Once we started working on it, we knew it would be the perfect tribute," he said.

Bill Leonard, who works at Dunvegan, is helping to maintain the maze.

"It's amazing that this farm alone is standing," he said. "When I left (Fort McMurray back in May) the hills were burning around us."

The maze will remain open until mid-October.
