Huge thunderstorms rock southern England as heavy rain falls overnight
A huge rolling storm hit parts of the south of England and south Wales on Wednesday night (1 May) as the Met Office issued two yellow weather warnings and forecast heavy rain.
The warnings came after the UK experienced its sixth wettest April since records began, according to provisional data.
More warnings have been issued after thousands of lightning strikes swept across the country overnight, causing travel delays and striking a care home.
Thunderstorms are predicted to hit a large part of the Midlands, East Anglia and eastern Wales on Thursday from noon to midnight, which could cause further travel delays and flooding, the Met Office said.
