Police found human remains near woods in Charlotte on Saturday, and homicide detectives were at the scene.

Police found human remains in Charlotte woods on Saturday, May 20, 2023, and homicide detectives are at the scene. A death investigation is underway in the 6600 block of Dupont Drive, CMPD said.

A death investigation is underway in the 6600 block of Dupont Drive, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said on Twitter at about 4 p.m.

That’s just west of Old Pineville Road in southwest Charlotte.

Officers in the CMPD Steele Creek Division found the remains after responding to what they said was a “welfare” call.

Police said the remains are a male but offered no further information.
