Humans try to make it across giant cockroach traps, fail spectacularly

Japanese company Earth Chemical decided to test the effectiveness of its Gokiburi Hoy-Hoy cockroach trap by scaling up the size of the adhesive in the trap and having a scientist, an athlete and a sumo wrestler try to make their way across it.

They posted their experiment in a wacky video game-inspired video on YouTube earlier this month, and as you might expect, no one was able to get to the other side. The athlete came close and looks like he may have made it if he didn’t lose his shoes on the trap.

For those curious as to how the company got their experiment subjects off the traps or for those who think that the human-sized cockroach traps were a gag, the company also released a short behind-the-scenes video, which makes it clear just how stuck they really were.

The video shows the frantic ordeal to get each of them unstuck, and unfortunately for the athlete, to get off the trap, that meant having to be cut out of his clothes.
