Hundreds of animals need home for the holidays: Regina Humane Society

There are lot of critters in Regina needing a home for the holidays.

This week, the Regina Humane Society launched an adoption campaign asking people to help 155 homeless pets currently waiting to find a home.

Bill Thorn with the Regina Humane Society said the extended warm weather has resulted in a major influx of animals, particularly cats and kittens.

Thorn said they currently have more 150 cats alone in their system, in addition to many dogs.

"Simply put, our building and foster care resources are at capacity and overflowing," Thorn said in an email. "We need to find homes for those animals that are available for adoption to make room for those animals that will be coming out of foster, and medical or stray holds in the coming days."

From now until Sunday, Nov. 29, adoption fees on all kittens and cats have been reduced to $50, while adult dogs are $99.

On top of the reduced adoption fees, the Humane Society said, "As a holiday gift, some very generous donors have also sponsored the full adoption fee of numerous animals currently awaiting adoption."

All adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, tattoo, vaccinations, complimentary veterinary exam at Regina and area vet clinics, as well as 30 days of free Pet Plan pet insurance.
