Inaugural Living Skies Music Festival coming to Humboldt June 15
HUMBOLDT – A new music festival is coming to Humboldt June 15 with the James Barker Band as the headliner.
Tarell Sterner, President of 306 Event Management and local from Lake Lenore said, “This is the first year for the festival, we have done similar events in Alberta though, I am originally from Lake Lenore so it has been a project I am passionate about to bring this to the home town area. I have been working on bringing this in collaboration with the City of Humboldt for years.”
The festival will be at Centennial Park.
Humboldt local Megan Brooks will be kicking things off and bringing some local flair to the stage. Brooks is excited to be taking the stage to perform a few songs including her original recording "Peace of Mind" which you can find on Spotify. Brooks's music blends contemporary pop, rock, indie, and folk music in her performances. As winner of the 2019 Arts Humboldt Sound Cheque Showcase competition she produced the single. “Peace of Mind”, and has been a part of the Saskatchewan Telemiracle team.
Other artists include Jason McCoy who is the highest selling Canadian country band in history. McCoy had nearly eight million YouTube views to date and is a JUNO Award winner for Country Recording of the Year (The Road Hammers). Brock Andrews is a Saskatchewan-born singer/songwriter who burst onto the country music scene in 2016 with the launch of his first full-length album "Eight" which spent several weeks in the Top 10 charts on iTunes. Andrews led all artists at the 2017 SCMA awards with six nominations. Over the past five years Brock has become one of the most-played Saskatchewan artists on country radio across Canada with more than 15,000+ spins. Skrizzly Adams, Shantaia, Brody Siebert and Jordyn Pollard are the other musical artists to complete the lineup.
Sterner said they do rely on volunteers to help with anything from gates, set up, security, bars and still have some spots that could be filled. The festival also relies on sponsorship and Sterner said approximately $100,000 has sponsored the event to date. All these dollars go towards getting big headliners and a music lineup that is well-known.
Sterner said kids 10 and under are free and hopes for the support to ensure they can keep coming back and grow rural events and bring communities across the province together.

Saskatchewan food trucks and local vendors will also be on site and a 50/50 with all proceeds going to STARS air ambulance. If anyone is interested in joining as a local vendor they can reach out to livingskiesmusicfestival@gmail.com. Artists and some small businesses may have the vendor fee waived to support local artists and small business ventures.
