Jake Gyllenhaal Says Godmother Jamie Lee Curtis 'Gives Me Strength' at 'Times When I've Needed It'
The 'Presumed Innocent' opened up about his close relationship with his godmother in an interview with 'E! News'
Jake Gyllenhaal and his godmother Jamie Lee Curtis are closer than ever.
In an interview with E! News on his upcoming AppleTV+ show Presumed Innocent, Gyllenhaal, 43, spoke about his close relationship with his godmother Curtis, 65.
“She gives me strength and gives me love at times [that] I’ve definitely needed it, and I hope I can be the same for her," he said.
Gyllenhaal also shared that he would be open to acting alongside Curtis in a project, saying, “It would be an honor.”
Both Gyllenhaal and Curtis previously spoke to PEOPLE in April 2023 about living together with his girlfriend Jeanne Cadieu during the COVID-19 lockdown.
“He and Jeanne lived in the house next door that I have,” Curtis explained. “We've just gotten to know each other."
The Everything Everywhere All At Once actress also shared that the Presumed Innocent actor did a lot of "singing, acting, [and baking] sourdough," during lockdown and called his baking skills “very good.”
Curtis also recalled Gyllenhaal “did that test where you do a handstand against the wall and take your shirt off and put it back on."
The Oscar-winning actress also opened up to PEOPLE about the advice she shared with Gyllenhaal.
"I sort of looked at him and said, 'I've done this for a long time. You're just starting,’ “ Curtis said. “ ‘There may be things your parents don't have the experience, strength and hope that I do. Please use that if you need to.' "
In the interview with E News! Gyllenhaal also said, “When [Curtis] shines her light on you I can tell you that it is like no other.”
Gyllenhaal will be starring in Presumed Innocent alongside his brother-in-law Peter Sarsgaard and called the experience “great fun.”
“I’ve known him for 20 years, so being in that type of intimacy and being two professionals at this job, you can throw things in and you can enjoy it," he said of his fellow actor.
