Jerrod Carmichael Chronicles Coming Out Journey in HBO Reality Show — Watch Trailer

Two years after coming out as gay in an HBO comedy special, Jerrod Carmichael is pulling the curtain on his personal life much further back for the premium cabler.

In the eight-episode documentary series Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show, the trailer for which dropped Wednesday (watch above), the actor-comedian chronicles his evolving relationship with his parents as they make peace with his sexuality. He also introduces viewers to his boyfriend.

“I’ve been just trying to maintain being truthful on camera,” Carmichael says in the trailer. “I’m trying to self Truman Show myself.”

The series premieres Friday, March 29 at 11 pm/ET on HBO, with subsequent episodes unspooling weekly.
