Joe Biden to Sit Down With ABC’s George Stephanopoulos After Debate Debacle
President Joe Biden will sit down for an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on Friday, as he seeks to quell concerns about his age following a disastrous debate performance.
ABC News will air the first look at the interview on Friday’s edition of “World News Tonight With David Muir.” Additional clips will air on “Good Morning America” on Saturday and Sunday, with the full interview running on “This Week With George Stephanopoulos” on Sunday.

Biden has faced pressure to prove that he is up to the task of running for reelection. His fumbling performance — he trailed off, struggled to make his points and seemed incapable of effectively countering former President Donald Trump — has left many party insiders scrambling for alternatives.
Biden and his team have committed to staying in the race, however. The president seemed more energized and effective at a rally on Friday in Raleigh, N.C., though he has yet to show the same ability in an unscripted setting.
The president is due to appear on Tuesday night at a fundraiser in McLean, Va.
The campaign has sought to reassure the donor community that Biden can still perform on the campaign trail, and that the race remains winnable. At a fundraiser on Saturday in Los Angeles, Vice President Kamala Harris acknowledged that the president’s performance was not his best.
“Our president said it wasn’t his finest hour,” Harris said. “We all know it wasn’t. But we also know that when we watched and listened to the substance of what was happening on that debate stage, if we put aside the style points, there was a clear contrast.”
She went on to say that Trump remains a threat to democracy.
“None of that has changed because of one day in June,” Harris said. “Trump is still a liar.”
