John Gormley to stay on as board member at Saskatoon's Remai
Well-known talk radio host John Gormley will remain as a "director in good standing" on the board of the Remai Modern Art Gallery, according to the board's vice-chair, Ken Smith.

In November, Gormley posted a controversial message on Twitter in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris. The following month, a group of artists called on Saskatoon's city council to remove Gormley from the board of the Remai Modern Art Gallery.
In an emailed statement, Smith said the decision was made "following an independent review of the matter and the gallery's code of conduct for directors and anti-harassment policy."
The reason cited for the decision was that "the investigator has concluded that the scope of the codes and policy only applies to the actions of individuals when acting in their role as a director," Smith said.
He also noted that despite there being no code violations, the board acknowledges that Gormley's social media commentary "was inappropriate and offensive. [Gormley] himself has acknowledged this and we accept both his personal and public apologies."
"We are deeply committed to the values of inclusivity and outreach, and we will continue to engage educators, artists, new Canadians and indigenous peoples in the development of our future programs and plans," Smith said.
