Jonathan Scott Reveals Where He’s Traveling This Mother’s Day to Celebrate with Zooey Deschanel (Exclusive)
The ‘Backed by the Bros’ star opened up to PEOPLE about how he plans on making the day memorable for the ‘New Girl’ alum

While speaking exclusively with PEOPLE about HGTV’s Backed by the Bros (premiering June 5), Scott, 46, opened up about his plans with Deschanel for the special day — including where he’ll be traveling to.
“Zooey's away filming a movie right now, so I'm actually flying the kids out to be with her over Mother's Day and a few days on either end. So we're going to have a bunch of activities planned and that'll be nice,” Scott says.
He explained to PEOPLE that Deschanel, 44, is working on a movie in North Carolina, and that he’s already been out there to visit her.
This time, he’ll be bringing her two kids — daughter Elsie, 8, and son Charlie, 6 — so they can all enjoy some quality time together on Mother’s Day. Deschanel shares Elsie and Charlie with her ex-husband Jacob Pechenik.
Scott continues, “I'll be celebrating with both Zooey and my mom here in L.A. before I leave.”

Jacob Pechenik and Jonathan Scott with Elsie and CharlieLast month, the HGTV star hopped on a plane to celebrate his 46th birthday with Deschanel on April 28, and the pair enjoyed a number of fun-filled activities together.
“Zooey is filming a movie in North Carolina, so I flew out there and she spoiled me and filled my day with great food, escape rooms and antique things,” he told PEOPLE.
Scott also documented the special day in a sweet Instagram Reel on April 29 in which the pair are seen posing in the escape room, snapping a selfie at the antique store and sharing a meal together.
After four years of dating, the pair officially got engaged during a family trip in Scotland in August 2023. During the same interview, Scott told PEOPLE that they’ve been taking their time when it comes to wedding planning.

“The most important thing for us is to be surrounded by our loved ones. And we're not planning to do a crazy, extravagant wedding. It's going to be pretty intimate,” he says, adding that he and Deschanel still “haven't nailed down exactly when and where” the wedding will be.
He also teased the possibility of holding a second event after the smaller ceremony: “We will probably throw another party just for friends here locally.”
