Joseph Quinn is planning to make Johnny Storm his own — but gives major props to those who have paved the way by playing the superhero onscreen.

Speaking with PEOPLE for this week's issue ahead of the release of his new horror-thriller A Quiet Place: Day One, the 30-year-old actor says he hasn't spoken with Chris Evans or Michael B. Jordan, who have played the Fantastic Four character on the big screen in previous iterations.

However, he realizes Evans, 43, and Jordan, 37, have given him "big boots to fill, twice."

"They're both brilliant actors and did the amazing job with their interpretation of Johnny," Quinn says. "So I think it's a question of trying to find something ... well, not different. It's going to come from me, I guess."

Adds the Stranger Things alum, "I've definitely been inspired by their portrayals, so we'll see how it goes."

After many casting rumors and much speculation, Disney confirmed the official cast list for Fantastic Four in February with a fun graphic featuring Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/The Human Torch (Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach).

The upcoming superhero flick has been in the works since 2019, when Disney first acquired the rights to the characters through their Fox deal. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige later confirmed the movie during San Diego Comic-Con.

Slated for a 2025 release, The Fantastic Four will be the third big-screen adaptation of the comics of the same name, following the 2005 version starring Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Evans and Michael Chiklis, and the 2015 movie starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jordan and Jamie Bell.

Marvel previously teased the introduction of the Fantastic Four in 2022, when John Krasinski appeared as an alternate version of Reed (who was quickly killed off) in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Speaking of Krasinski, Quinn and Lupita Nyong'o are expanding the Quiet Place universe with their newest film that serves as a spinoff prequel to A Quiet Place (2018) and A Quiet Place Part II (2020), both directed by the Office alum, 44.

Helmed this time by Krasinski's story co-creator Michael Sarnoski, A Quiet Place: Day One follows Eric (Quinn) and Sam (Nyong'o, 41) on the very first day extraterrestrial creatures come to Earth and unleash chaos in New York City, attacking any source of noise.

Asked if he himself would survive in a real-life post-apocalyptic environment where making a sound can mean certain death, Quinn tells PEOPLE, "I doubt it, if I'm honest."

"I find it hard to shut up, and that is imperative in survival in this world," he jokes. "I wouldn't bet on me in this race."

A Quiet Place: Day One is in theaters Friday, June 28.
