Julianne Hough just shared that she's still dealing with an injury stemming from a past project with Tom Cruise.

On November 7, the former Dancing With the Stars pro opened up on Instagram about making her “body stronger” with the help of celebrity trainer Mark Harari. During the coronavirus pandemic, Julianne began working out with Mark, who happens to be her brother Derek Hough’s best friend. As Julianne explains in her caption, Mark helped her navigate the challenge of building her strength while she continued to cope with a decade-old injury.

“I have neck issues from an old injury that actually happened while shooting the deleted scene ‘Rock You Like a Hurricane’ with @tomcruise in Rock Of Ages,” she wrote. “Yup just name dropped big time — and ever since my neck has been really weak and gives me inconsistent pain and issues. Mark has been so incredible at training me for that reason while also giving me some extra 🍑 in the process… not complaining! Thanks Mark, love ya xoxo.”

After seeing Julianne’s Instagram video, many fans rushed to the comments section to cheer her on.

“GET IT JULIANNE! ❤️❤️,” one person wrote. “Impressive workout Jules! ❤️,” another added. “You make it look so EASY! 🔥❤️🙌,” a different fan said. “You’re amazing Jules. You’re my inspiration today. ❤️ You are a strong woman inside and out. I love you. 🙌,” a follower commented.

For background, Julianne starred in the 2012 musical comedy Rock of Ages based on the Broadway musical of the same name. She played aspiring singer Sherrie Christian who crosses paths with Tom's character, rock legend Stacee Jaxx. In the scene Julianne mentions, the two characters dance to the hit song “Rock You Like a Hurricane” by Scorpions, and the choreography involves a lot of sudden, fast moves. While she didn’t give specifics about how the injury happened, the number had her whipping her head back and forth several times.

At the time, several outlets reported on Julianne's neck problems on set, noting that she also had endured other spinal, rib and hip injuries shooting the movie.

"I was doing this dance number with Tom and it was 18-hour days and dancing hardcore, totally fine,” Julianne recalled to Celebuzz. "The next day I was walking and turned my head, and I had to lie on my back. I couldn’t breathe, and I couldn’t turn my head."

While she insisted on pushing through it, Julianne told the outlet that Tom reasoned with her to pause and take care of herself. "He’s like, ‘Julianne, this is what insurance is for. You’ve got a very long career ahead of you, a long shoot ahead of you.’ I was like, 'Tom Cruise cares about me!'"
