Justin McKinnon-Blomme's family in mourning after body found in tree

The man found dead in a tree in a backyard in Acadia was Justin McKinnon-Blomme, family members have confirmed to CBC News.

Officers were called to the 9800 block of Alberni Road S.E. Wednesday at 2:45 p.m. by the homeowner.

"At this time, investigators believe the death not to be suspicious in nature," said police in a release.

Calgary police are not confirming the man's identity, but the scene is located near the intersection where McKinnon-Blomme was last seen.

The 21-year-old has been missing since September.

Family in mourning

Hours after police made the discovery of the body, a message was posted to the "Help Bring Justin Home" Facebook page.

"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Justin. Justin was loved and cared for by many people," it read.

"At this time the family is asking for some privacy as we deal with the loss of Justin. Thank you again for all of your love and support."

Police say the cause of death and identification of the body will be determined by a medical examiner. An autopsy is expected to take place in the next few days.
