Justin Timberlake Is Feeling a Little SelfishVEVO

Justin Timberlake is back, people. The 42-year-old just released his new track, “Selfish”—which marks his first solo music since the 2018's Man of the Woods.

“Selfish” is, as you might suspect, a song about being a little self-serving. That’s not always bad, though—Timberlake is feeling selfish when it comes to love. “So, if I get jealous, I can’t help it,” he croons. “I want every bit of you, I guess I’m selfish.” Timberlake wrote the track with Louis Bell, Theron Thomas, and Amy Allen. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Timberlake explained that “Selfish” is one of the many songs on his upcoming album, Everything I Thought It Was.

“I worked for a long time on this album, and I ended up with 100 songs,” he said. “So, narrowing them down to 18 was a thing, and then, yeah, I’m really excited about this album. I think every artist probably says this, but it is my best work.” This morning, Timberlake released visuals for “Jealous” to celebrate the song's debut. In the video, he traverses through a series of Hollywood sets and stages until he finds a concert hall—where he promptly and breaks into a dance routine. Check it out below.

This weekend, Timberlake will star as the musical guest of Saturday Night Live! with host Dakota Johhson. While speaking with Lowe, the artist said he considered hosting, too. “I flirted with the idea of: Should I host or ask to host?” he said. “And then I just thought, No, this album is really special to me in a different, different way.” Still, Timberlake is game to cameo in a sketc. “I also cannot imagine that I won’t get pulled into a sketch or two,” he said. “It’s only natural. And I’m here for it.”

In the meantime, you can listen to “Selfish” on music streaming platforms. Everything I Thought It Was drops on March 15.
