Kamloops airport evacuated briefly after suspicious package found

The airport in Kamloops, B.C. was evacuated briefly on Thursday afternoon after a suspicious package was found inside the terminal.

According to the airport's managing director Fred Legace, the suspicious package was noticed by an airport employee at 4:45 p.m. PT.

Kamloops RCMP said the item was in the baggage claim area and was tube shaped with tape on each end. There were no identifying marks on the item and nobody was seen handling it, said Cpl. Cheryl Bush.

Police determined the object contained rolled-up art work.

The airport tweeted one Air Canada flight was cancelled, but it has resumed regular operations around 6:30 p.m. PT.
