Kansas high school girls golf state qualifiers: Find regional results for Wichita area

The Kapaun Mt. Carmel girls golf team powered its way to a team championship at a Class 5A regional played at Rolling Hills on Monday.

The Crusaders finished with a team score of 344 strokes, seven ahead of runner-up Hays, to punch their ticket to the Class 5A state tournament to be played at Hutchinson’s Carey Park next Monday and Tuesday.

Kapaun freshman Ximena Sarinana won individual medalist honors with a 1-under score of 71, which was 11 strokes ahead of the field. She will be joined at state by senior Tilly Jones (fifth, 86), sophomore Ava Truong (12th, 93), junior Maddy Cartwright (14th, 94), sophomore Natalee Runyan (16th, 99) and senior Victoria Penaloza.

Bishop Carroll took third in the team race to qualify for state, led by top-10 finishes by senior Bella Jones (third, 84) and sophomore Mary Bina (seventh, 90). Other state qualifiers on the team include sophomore Kaylin Dorsey (11th, 92), freshman Kinsley Montgomery (19th, 102), freshman Ava Spexarth and senior Nevaeh Weninger-Henricks.

Goddard Eisenhower snagged the fourth and final state-qualifying position. The Tigers will send senior Kayla Jensen (seventh, 90), sophomore Stella Wright (12th, 93), senior Madison Loomis (19th, 102), sophomore Reese Knudson, senior Lillian Tallant and freshman Riley Pate.

Other individual state qualifiers included Goddard sophomore Skylar Chapman (third, 84), the Maize South trio of junior Audrey Davis (17th, 101), senior Kadynce Nash (17th, 101) and junior Skylar Seals (103), the Arkansas City duo of freshman Aspen Colquohoun (19th, 102) and sophomore Kinley Mendoza (108) and Hutchinson junior Lily Rodriguez (108).

At the regional hosted by Topeka Seaman at Lake Shawnee Golf Course on Tuesday, Andover sophomore Regan Dusenbery led the Trojans to a state berth with individual medalist honors with a 1-under score of 69.

She will be joined at the state tournament by freshman Isabel Hawley (12th, 99), freshman Grier Hand (13th, 100), sophomore Ellie Garrett (13th, 100), freshman Emily Meyer (110) and sophomore Maren Nelson (113).

Other area individual state qualifiers included Newton freshman Naomi Koontz (second, 78) and the Andover Central duo of sophomore Ashley Kramer (18th, 105) and junior Hannah Tri (18th, 105).

Kinslea Jones leads Maize to Class 6A state tournament

Maize had no issue claiming the team title at the 6A regional hosted by Wichita North at Sim Park, as the Eagles won by 47 strokes with their team score of 322.

Maize junior Kinslea Jones, who has won the last two Class 5A individual state titles, claimed the individual medalist honors with a 2-under score of 69. She was joined in the top-five by senior Alexis Elliott (third, 77) and junior Charlotte Kerbs (fourth, 83) and followed by junior Emma Hays (12th, 93), junior Hadley Topping (18th, 104) and sophomore Jayden Ramsey.

Behind freshman sensation Alina Lam, who was runner-up behind Jones with a 1-over score of 72, Southeast snagged a qualifying spot as a team with a third-place finish with 392 strokes. Other state qualifiers for the Golden Buffaloes included sophomore Hailey Moore (seventh, 89), sophomore Reese Hawkins, sophomore Violet Bigley and freshman Lauren Floyd.

Individual state qualifiers include Campus senior Kiley Maier (fourth, 83), Wichita East senior Jillian Hutchinson (13th, 97) and the Derby trio of senior Hannah Minnis (sixth, 85), sophomore Addison Oetken (16th, 100) and senior Natalie Wilson (19th, 105).

The Class 6A state tournament will be held at Emporia Municipal Golf Course beginning Monday, Oct. 16.

Winfield, Wellington, Buhler and Augusta punch tickets to 4A state tournament

In a thrilling team race that came down to a single stroke, Winfield (369) edged Wellington (370) to claim the team title in a Class 4A regional hosted at Wellington Golf Club on Monday.

Winfield had three in the top-10 with sophomore Lilli Sympson winning individual medalist honors with a score of 78, followed by senior Carley Littell (fifth, 90) and junior Ava Torrance (ninth, 94). The other qualifiers on the Vikings are junior Clover Maples (19th, 107), sophomore Kashleigh Hedges and sophomore Shia Solis-Holder.

Wellington also had three in the top-10 with sophomores Taryn Viramontes (third, 81), Claire Ginter (fourth, 87) and Presley Cornejo (10th, 96). They will be joined at state by teammates in senior Aubrey Hunt (18th, 106), senior Evelyn Trafecanty and freshman Kenna Maxwell.

Other individual state qualifiers from the area were Andale junior Macy Hensley (seventh, 93), the Mulvane senior duo of Payton Fox (12th, 103) and Kaia Moore (13th, 104), Rose Hill senior Maddy Vaughters (13th, 104) and Clearwater junior Kaelyn Potter (15th, 105).

At the Wamego 4A regional on Monday, Buhler punched its ticket to the state meet with a third-place finish in the team race. The Crusaders were led by senior Marlie Cooper (12th, 98), freshman Macy Miller (14th, 100), senior Brynlee Frank (19th, 105), senior Sloane Adkins, sophomore Harlie Terrell and senior Delaney Hartnett.

McPherson sophomore Brodie Kuhn was the lone area state qualifier with a 10th-place finish and score of 92.

At the Chanute 4A regional on Monday, Augusta punched its ticket to the state tournament with a second-place team finish. The Orioles were led by freshman Kaylee Cox (second, 91), freshman Ellasyn Mettling (12th, 106), junior Elise Richardson (13th, 108), senior Jordyn Simpton (16th, 110), freshman Gentry Mallon and junior Rachel Womeldorff. The lone area individual state qualifier was Circle junior Emma Johnson (17th, 114).

The Class 4A state tournament will be played at Salina Municipal Golf Course next Monday and Tuesday.

Collegiate’s Margaret Ulrich back to defend her title in 3-1A

After winning the Class 3-1A individual championship last season, Wichita Collegiate junior Margaret Ulrich is once again in position to chase individual honors.

Ulrich won a 3-1A regional hosted in Girard on Monday with a score of 89, topping the field by seven strokes. She will compete as an individual next Monday and Tuesday at the Class 3-1A state tournament at Hesston Golf Course.

A handful of other area individuals qualified for the state meet, including Eureka senior Annaliese Casper (fourth, 98), Medicine Lodge senior Isabella Burden (eighth, 104) and the Cheney duo of seniors Reagan Ayres (11th, 110) and Chloe Young (16th, 114).

Hesston qualified for the state tournament out of the Jefferson West 3-1A regional, logging a third-place finish in the team race. The Swathers were led by senior Meg Werner (fifth, 87), freshman Elizabeth Hosford (15th, 97), senior Hannah Vogt, freshman Wendy Roth, sophomore Maci Kramer and junior Regan Eilert.
