Kansas woman, 28, dies after falling off overhang at Glacier National Park
A woman from Kansas has died in an accident at the Glacier National Park.
The 28-year-old unidentified woman fell off a rocky overhang into Avalanche Creek and was swept into a gorge, according to a news release from the National Park Service.
Other park attendees spotted her in the creek and jumped into the water to pull her out. They performed CPR and went on to notify park rangers to call 911, the news release said.
Medical personnel responded, but the woman died at the side of the creek.
“The park extends their deepest condolences to the family and friends,” the release added.
Glacier National Park is in Montana near the Canada-United States border. It was established in 1910 and covers about 1 million acres.
