'Bachelor in Paradise' stars Kat and John Henry announce their breakup days after engagement aired
Spoilers ahead for the finale of "Bachelor in Paradise" season nine.
Kat faced backlash for pursuing John Henry while he was with Olivia on "Bachelor in Paradise."
The two got engaged at the end of the season, but recently announced their split.
Kat Izzo from Zach Shallcross' season of "The Bachelor" was easily one of the messier cast members on this season of the spinoff "Bachelor in Paradise."
After getting cozy with several men on "Paradise," Kat began pursuing John Henry Spurlock, despite the fact that John Henry and Olivia Lewis were romantically involved. Eventually, John Henry and Kat began a relationship, and, as shown on Thursday's finale, the two ended "Paradise" by getting engaged.
During a montage at the end of the finale that gave updates on the cast members, Kat and John Henry were revealed to still be engaged, and were apparently moving to San Diego together.
But shortly after going public with their relationship post-finale, the couple revealed that they'd broken up.
On Monday, John Henry and Kat announced their split on Instagram
The first inkling of trouble came when John Henry mysteriously deleted a photo of him and Kat during their "Paradise" proposal shortly after posting it on Friday. Then, the couple shocked some fans by confirming their split on Monday.
In the joint post, shared just days after the finale aired, John Henry and Kat cited "career differences" as the reason for their breakup.
"With mutual love and respect, Kat and I have recently decided to part ways. Our relationship has been filled with wonderful memories and growth, something we looked forward to sharing with you," the caption for the post (which featured a photo of the two of them embracing on a fence) began.
"While our paths are taking different directions due to our career goals not aligning, we are grateful for the love and support we've received from our family, friends, and Bachelor Nation," it continued.
Kat and John Henry's post concluded by noting that the decision wasn't easy, but that they believe it's the right choice for both of them.
At the time of writing, both Kat and John Henry still followed one another on Instagram.
They're not the only couple from this season to call it quits shortly after the finale aired — on Saturday, Kylee Russell revealed that she and Aven Jones had broken up after "multiple infidelities."
Besides Kat and John Henry, only one other couple — Aaron B. and Eliza — got engaged on "Bachelor in Paradise" season nine. It's unclear whether Aaron and Eliza are still together. The finale's closing montage noted the two had faced some "speed bumps" in their relationship since filming wrapped, and neither have posted anything about their relationship on social media yet.
