Directing will be Jonathan Eusebio, who is making his feature directing debut after a long career as a 2nd unit director and stunt coordinator.

Deadline reports that the film's plot details are under wraps. However, Luke Passmore is adapting an original script by Josh Stoddard and Matthew Murray.

Last March, Quan made history as the first Vietnam-born actor to win an Academy Award. He had previously been a child actor, starring as Data in The Goonies and as Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Following the release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny last year, the film's director James Mangold explained why Quan's character didn't make a return to the franchise.

“If you notice… the only person we follow through the whole way is Indy himself – joined by Helena [Shaw, played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge], and I felt like we needed to have a female lead who challenged him.

Quan has also more recently starred in the second season of Disney+ series Loki, with one scene even including a fun tribute to his Goonies character.

Loki seasons 1-2 are streaming on Disney+.
