Kelly Ripa Is 'Concerned' After Her 17-Year-Old Dog Had 'a Really Bad Day': 'My Brain Is Back Home'
"It's just one of those things, you know, when your dog starts to get old. It's torture," Ripa said on 'Live with Kelly and Mark'
Kelly Ripa is worried about one of her four-legged family members.
On Tuesday morning's Live with Kelly and Mark, Ripa, 53, opened up about her senior dog Chewie, 17, telling her husband and co-host Mark Consuelos that she felt like she should be at home with her.
"You know, I don't know if you noticed yesterday. Our dog Chewie — who is very, very old now — was really disoriented," she said.

After revealing that Chewie's behavior did concern him, Consuelos, 52, chalked it up to old age, telling Ripa, "But she's 17 years old, so she was just having a day."
According to Ripa, the family pet did not just have a "day" — she had "a really bad day."
"Like, I'm still, I'm concerned," the co-host said. "Like, I don't want to be here. I feel like I need to get home."
"She walked into a wall yesterday; she fell over," she told Consuelos. "It's just one of those things, you know, when your dog starts to get old. It's torture. It's really torture. Because she can't tell you."

Although, "she does tell you a lot with her eyes," Ripa added. "She's like, 'Sigh. Can you believe this?' I'm like, 'I can't!'"
But, Consuelos pointed out, Chewie was acting more upbeat by the end of the day and even "jumped up on the bed last night and was sleeping between us."
"She's good," he said as Ripa admitted she couldn't help but worry about her longtime companion.
"I'm just, I'm like, a little bit distracted this morning because my brain is back home," she said, and Consuelos added, "With Chewie."

The 17-year-old pup has been a member of the co-hosts' family for years, along with their other rescue dog, Lena, and their three kids, Michael, 26, Lola, 22, and Joaquin, 21.
Lena — the pup that made Consuelos, who didn't grow up with pets, a "dog lover" — is the most recent addition.
The couple adopted the Maltese/Shih Tzu in 2021 after she was featured on a Live with Kelly and Ryan's Happy Pets segment.

Before officially welcoming the pup, the family ensured she and Chewie got along, with Ripa sharing, “My whole fear was I didn't want Chewie to feel replaced in any way."
Thankfully, the canines meshed well. Over the weekend, Ripa celebrated National Puppy Day with a sweet tribute to both furry friends.
Alongside a compilation of pictures of the pets — set to Paul Anka's "Puppy Love" — the co-host wrote, "Forever puppy love with these two 🐾Happy #NationalPuppyDay to Lena, Chewie and all your pups out there…"
