Kentucky-Louisville baseball game postponed again. No makeup date announced.
The University of Kentucky baseball team attempted twice this week to host Louisville at Kentucky Proud Park, but inclement weather left the archrivals scrambling for a makeup date at some point later this season.
The teams typically meet twice each season, with one game in Lexington and one in Louisville.
This week’s game in Lexington was originally scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday but was postponed when severe weather moved into Kentucky and caused significant property damage and power outages across the state. The contest was rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday but was postponed again Wednesday morning as cleanup began in particularly hard-hit Lexington.
Wind, rain and cold were all part of Wednesday’s weather forecast.
“Due to the forecast of inclement weather and with the health and safety of both players and fans in mind Wednesday night’s game against Louisville has been postponed,” UK announced in a news release Wednesday morning. “Currently, no makeup date has been set.”
The release said tickets for Wednesday’s game would be honored on the date the game is made up or refunded if the game is not played.
Kentucky is scheduled to visit Louisville on April 16.
The Southeastern Conference-leading and nationally 16th-ranked Wildcats (24-7 overall, 8-1 SEC) will be back in action at Kentucky Proud Park this weekend when they host No. 14 Alabama (21-7, 4-5) for games Friday (6:30 p.m., SEC Network+), Saturday (2 p.m., SEC Network+) and Sunday (Noon, SEC Network).
The Cardinals (17-11 overall, 3-6 ACC) host No. 20 North Carolina State (18-8, 8-4) on Friday (6 p.m.), Saturday (1 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.). All three games will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
