  • On Saturday, Kanye West tweeted that he plans to run in the 2020 presidential election.

  • Kim Kardashian responded to her husband's announcement on Twitter.

  • This isn't the first time that the rapper and designer has suggested he plans to run for president.

Kanye West might be running for president of the United States in 2020.

The Yeezy creator took to Twitter on Saturday to share his announcement with the world. He tweeted, "We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION."

His wife, Kim Kardashian, quickly responded to her husband's announcement. She retweeted his message, along with an American flag emoji. Right now, it's unclear whether West actually plans to run for president in 2020, as his announcement could be linked to the promotion of his forthcoming album, God's Country.

This is far from the first time that West has suggested that a presidential run might be in his future. According to People, West appeared at Fast Company’s Innovation Festival in November 2019, where he told the crowd, "When I run for president in 2024..." The audience seemed to think that the rapper was joking, which prompted West to ask, "What y’all laughing at?"

As far back as 2015, West has publicly discussed his desire to run for president, after making an announcement at the MTV Video Music Awards. The same year, when asked by Vanity Fair if he was serious about making a presidential bid, West replied, "Oh, definitely."
