King Charles and David Beckham Compared Beekeeping Tips
David Beckham's long relationship with the royal family continues: He's now an official ambassador for one of King Charles's charities.
Today, the King's Foundation announced Beckham is a new ambassador for the organization. "I’m excited to be working with The King’s Foundation and to have the opportunity to help raise awareness of the charity’s work," the soccer star said in a statement. "I’ve always been keen to help young people to expand their horizons and I’m particularly looking forward to supporting the Foundation’s education programmes and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature."
Beckham added, "Having developed a love for the countryside I’m also on a personal mission to learn more about rural skills which is so central to the Foundation’s work. It was inspiring to hear from The King about the work of His Majesty’s Foundation during my recent visit to Highgrove Gardens – and compare beekeeping tips!" Last month, Beckham met with the King at Highgrove Gardens, his beloved gardens at Highgrove House.
Beckham has long expressed his admiration for the British royal family, and has been involved in numerous events of theirs over the years. He appeared in the Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee concert, attended Prince William's Earthshot Prize ceremony in Boston, and he and his wife Victoria were among the guests at both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding and at Prince William and Kate Middleton's nuptials.
Beckham first met Charles back in 2000, and in 2003, he received the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) from Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. He met the Queen again at the Palace in 2018, and in 2022, Beckham was one of the thousands of mourners who queued to pay his respects to the late Queen Elizabeth.
The news Beckham met with the King comes amid King Charles's return to work following his cancer diagnosis. That return to work has slowed slightly, due to the news of the UK general election, but he will attend D-Day commemorations in France next week.
