With preparations well underway for the upcoming coronation, it's safe to say that King Charles III's schedule is pretty packed. Fans were delighted then, when His Majesty took to Instagram this weekend to share a photo of himself and Prince William enjoying a moment of father-son bonding.

In the post, which the royal pair both shared to Instagram, the King and the Prince of Wales are seen re-enacting a photo that Charles and Queen Elizabeth II took just a few years before Her Majesty's passing.

"It is hard to believe that two years have passed since my mother and I planted a tree in Windsor Great Park to mark the commencement of The Queen’s Green Canopy," the Monarch wrote in the caption, referencing the photo of himself and his mother in the third slide.

"Proudly marking the end of the @queensgreencanopy project by planting this Acer tree in the gardens of Sandringham House – one of over 3 million that have been planted in Queen Elizabeth II’s name as part of this initiative," the King added of the newer photo. "This project has shown how simple, practical and positive gestures can make a big difference, and I can think of no more fitting tribute to Her late Majesty’s seventy-year reign."

In the comments section, fans had plenty to say about the post, particularly about the Queen's long-lasting legacy. "We will never forget the late Queen and everything she did for the nation," one fan wrote, as someone else commented: "These trees will be an everlasting symbol of life, in honour of a once-in-a-lifetime magnificent lady, our Queen."

"Aww the comparison between these two photographs. So happy that Charles has William as a son and as an heir," another person said of the bond between the two royals, as someone else added: "Proud father and son remembering the Queen."
