Several days after Travis Barker left Blink-182’s European tour for a family emergency, Kourtney Kardashian revealed that she underwent “urgent fetal surgery” to save the life of her unborn baby.

“As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery,” Kardashian wrote on Instagram. “I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear. I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant.”

Concerns about Kardashian’s pregnancy began swirling late last week when Barker left Blink-182’s European tour, citing “an urgent family matter.” No specifics were given, though Barker had shared several photos of a dedicated prayer room on Instagram Stories in the hours before the announcement was made. (The band was forced to postpone a handful of shows, but they’re currently scheduled to resume their European tour Sept. 8 in Antwerp, Belgium.)

In her message, Kardashian thanked her doctors for “saving our baby’s life” and her mother, Kris Jenner, “for holding my hand through this.” Of Barker, she said, “I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock.”

Kardashian ended her note by saying, “Praise be to God. Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing.”

On Twitter, Barker added: “God is great. I flew home for a life-threatening emergency surgery for our baby that I’m so grateful went well. I want to say thank you for all the support. Tour resumes Friday.”

Kardashian revealed her pregnancy in June, breaking the news to Barker and the general public at the same time. During a Blink-182 show in Los Angeles, Kardashian appeared in the crowd holding up a sign that read, “Travis I’m Pregnant!” — at once a major announcement and also a likely reference to a famous shot in the “All the Small Things” video where a fan holds up the exact same sign. The arena cameras projected the moment on the big screens, causing a celebratory pause in the music as Barker left the stage to share the moment with Kardashian. (In quintessential Blink fashion, his bandmates did not let a special moment pass without a juvenile joke: “We’ve got an announcement that somebody’s dick still works,” Tom DeLonge cracked.)
