Lacrosse league may expel Okotoks Raiders

Brad Banister's son plays for the Okotoks Junior Raiders, which may be expelled from the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.

The Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League is considering whether to expel the Okotoks Junior Raiders.

"We're pretty mad about it. I think any team would be," said player Ray Banister.

The league is made up of four teams: Okotoks, Calgary, Edmonton and St. Albert.

The league held a conference call on Tuesday about the possible expulsion.

Brad Banister, father of player Ray Banister and a former owner of the National Lacrosse League's Calgary Roughnecks, says there has been animosity between the other teams and Okotoks.

"These guys for the past 10 years have had a hard time getting along. Sometimes it seems to be not about the kids, but about personalities and things like that."

Banister says there may be resentment because the team is privately owned and boasts how it hires professional lacrosse players as coaches.

The Raiders have finished in top spot the last three years. The league has not made a final decision yet.
