Lake Norman Charter repeats as NCHSAA 1A/2A/3A lacrosse champions

Lake Norman Charter’s Jack Dalton started Saturday’s N.C. 1A/2A/3A boys lacrosse state championship really, really fast. And then his teammates backed him up.

Dalton scored the first three goals in Saturday’s N.C. High School Athletic Association boys 1A/2A/3A state championship game at Durham County Stadium. Lake Norman Charter ultimately went up 7-0 and cruised to a 19-8 win over Northwood.

Lake Norman Charter looked every bit the defending champion.

After Dalton’s early barrage, senior Jack Rombough added two goals and juniors Brady Kester and Riley Cerosky had one. Northwood’s Taylor Laberge finally scored for his team late in the first period.

Dalton finished the game with five goals and two assists. Tyler Price, Rombough and Kester each added a hattrick for Lake Norman Charter. Price and Luke Thompson also recorded a pair of assists.

For the Chargers, Laberge tallied three goals and Will Smith scored twice and assisted on three more. Carson Fortunes also scored a pair of goals.
