The New Lamborghini Urus Is the Marque’s Most Powerful SUV Ever
Lamborghini just welcomed another electrified Raging Bull into its stable.
The Italian supercar specialist unveiled the plug-in hybrid Urus SE on Wednesday. And, just like the Revuelto before it, the newest version of the brand’s best-selling model delivers the supercar-like performance that enthusiasts have come to expect.

The new powertrain, which is related to the one found in the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, is the big story here naturally. The latest Urus is a plug-in hybrid that features both a front-mounted twin-turbocharged V-8 and a rear-mounted electric motor. The gasoline mill produces 612 hp and 590 ft lbs of torque, while the electric motor, which is housed within its eight-speed automatic transmission, kicks in an additional 189 hp and 356 ft lbs of torque. That brings the setup’s total output to 789 horses and an electronically limited 701 ft lbs of twist, making this the most powerful Urus yet.
Lamborghini says the Urus SE will be able to sprint from zero to 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds quicker than the “entry-level” Urus S. The quickest Urus remains the 657-hp Performante, which can accomplish the same task in just 3.3 seconds. The Urus does have a better top speed, though, as it tops out at 194 mph, which makes it 4 mph faster than the Performante and 5 mph faster than the Urus S.
The difference-making electric motor gets its juice from a 25.7-kWh battery pack located beneath the floor of the trunk. Thanks to it, you’ll be able to get around 37 miles of electric-only driving range. In this mode, you can reach 81 mph, though we imagine that will affect the range somewhat. Regardless, the Urus SE’s electric-only range is significantly better than the Revuelto which could only drive 6.2 miles in EV mode.
Styling changes appear to have been kept to a minimum. Eagle-eyed observers may spot new matrix LED headlamps said to feature a new light signature inspired by the tail of a bull and a revised rear end that produces 35 percent more downforce. The interior, meanwhile, appears to have been almost entirely untouched, except the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system now situated in the center of the dashboard.
The Urus SE will replace the S and Performante when it launches next month. Lamborghini has yet to announce a price, but the expectation is that it will start around $275,000, according to Car and Driver. It and the Revuelto will be joined by another plug-in hybrid later this year when the Italian marque unveils the Huracán’s successor.
