Lane closures coming to I-5 at the Nisqually River Bridge this weekend. Here’s what to know
It’s that time of year again: Crews will be shutting down lanes of Interstate 5 on the Nisqually River Bridge this weekend for the bridge’s annual cleaning.
Northbound I-5 will be reduced to two lanes from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday, March 16 and March 17. During the work, Washington state Department of Transportation crews will close one lane of northbound I-5 each day.
Drivers should expect delays and congestion in the area, especially later in the morning, according to the announcement from WSDOT.
WSDOT says cleaning bridges improves the efficiency of its bridge inspection program and helps keep bridges in good working order.
Before heading out the door, travelers can find the latest information on the WSDOT app and the WSDOT statewide travel map.
