Legal marijuana grow op busted for safety violations

A federally approved Calgary medical marijuana grow op was shut down because of safety violations.

Wayne Brown, coordinator of the City of Calgary’s safety response team for building regulations, said they executed a search warrant to enter a medical marijuana grow-op Wednesday. He added that is the first time it has happened.

Inspectors found toxins, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizer and potentially contaminated drinking water.

“We found hazards that are consistent with what the police typically find in an illegal grow op,” Brown said.

The province has issued an order to fix the problems or the house will be demolished.

No details have been given as to how big the operation is or where it is located.
