Lewis Budge charged with murder of Robert Bromell who died after being hit by ambulance in Oban
A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a dad who died after being struck by an ambulance.
Pedestrian Robert Bromell, 39, was seriously injured in the incident at Corran Esplanade on the A85 in Oban, Argyll and Bute, at around 1.35am on 6 September.
The father-of-two, from the town, died from his injuries in hospital the next day.
On Saturday, Police Scotland announced that a man had been arrested and charged in connection with Mr Bromell's death.
Lewis Budge, 20, made no plea to the single murder charge when he appeared at Oban Sheriff Court on Monday.
Budge, of Oban, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody. He is due back in the dock within the next eight days.
Following Mr Bromell's death, his family released a statement through the force.
They said he was known as Hogan to all his family and friends, and always had a "smile on his face and a little joke to tell".
The family added: "It is a devastating loss and he will be missed by everyone that knew him.
"He was a loving dad to his two sons Kaiden and Kai and an amazing brother to Emma, Phil, Dave and Theresa.
"As a family we are devastated and truly heartbroken right now. Life will not be the same without him."
