Liberal leader Justin Trudeau draws crowds on Winnipeg visit

Federal Liberal leader Justin Trudeau says if he's elected prime minister, he'll hold an inquiry into Canada’s missing and murdered indigenous women.

Trudeau made the comments at a rally with supporters in Winnipeg last night.

He told the crowd at the Punjab Cultural Centre that the ongoing issues of violence facing Canada’s indigenous women is a national problem that must be addressed.

Trudeau got a strong reaction from the crowd when he talked about plans for an inquiry.

“We will launch a national public inquiry into the over 1,000 murdered and missing aboriginal women and girls,” said Trudeau.

Trudeau said more aboriginal voices are needed in Ottawa, and he also promised to deliver a plan to create economic stability for Canada's middle class.

“Our plan will give hard working Canadians a real chance at better incomes. More financial security and a more prosperous future," said Trudeau. "Our plan will invest in the middle class and we'll invest in Canada's infrastructure."

Trudeau also said that if elected, he would devote more resources to investing in job creation across the country.
