Lithuania has extended its ban on the broadcast of Russian and Belarusian channels for as long as the two countries are considered a threat, LRT reported.

The Lithuanian parliament's Committee on Culture extended the resolution, which was set to expire on Oct. 1.

"Not to come back to this provision every time and not to prolong this ban, we agreed that we will simply rely on the National Security Strategy, which was approved by the Seimas (Lithuanian parliament - ed.) and in which Russia and Belarus are indicated as countries that pose a danger and a threat to national security,” Culture Minister Simonas Kairys said.

“This ban will remain in force for as long as this threat is marked in this strategy."
