London travel news LIVE: Elizabeth line and Heathrow Express trains facing day-long disruption due to broken track

Commuters using the Elizabeth line are facing disruption throughout Wednesday due to defective track in west London.

A speed restriction is in place at Hayes & Harlington is causing delays to journeys through the station.

The issue is also affected Great Western Railway and Heathrow Express services.

National Rail says the disruption is expected to last all day.

Meanwhile the Central line was hit with an early-morning suspension and severe delays following a late finish to engineering work.

Minor delays now affecting Central and Elizabeth lines

There are now minor delays affecting both the Central and Elizabeth lines, says TfL, as earlier severe delays appear to be over.

There is a good service on all other lines.

Severe delays on Elizabeth Line

TfL is now saying delays on the Elizabeth Line are severe again.

The delays are affecting the line between Paddington and Abbey Wood, and are caused by the ongoing track fault in the Hayes & Harlington area.

There are also minor delays on the rest of the Elizabeth Line.

Delays across entire Central Line

There are severe delays between Leytonstone to Epping / Hainault and between White City to Ealing Broadway / West Ruislip after late-finishing engineering works.

TfL now says there are also minor delays across the rest of the line.

'Major disruption' expected on south coast trains until 3pm

Outside of London, there is major disruption between Wareham and Weymouth as emergency services are dealing with an incident that has blocked all trains lines.

“Until further details are known, all lines are blocked as specialist teams carry out investigations,” says National Rail.

Train services running to and from Wareham and Weymouth “may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised”, it adds.

“Major disruption is expected until 3pm.”

Alongside delays on the Elizabeth Line due to the faulty track, there are also severe delays on the Central Line.

TfL says this is following a late finish to engineering work.

A defective track at Hayes & Harlington has hit Elizabeth Line, Great Western Railway and Heathrow Express services.

As a result, trains running between London Paddington and Heathrow Airport / Reading may be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised.

Passengers are being warned to expect disruption until the end of the day.

The affected services are:
