Lost Boys Actor Brooke McCarter Dies Aged 52

Brooke McCarter, one of the vampires in cult film The Lost Boys, has died aged 52.

He played blond-haired Paul in the 1987 movie, appearing alongside the likes of Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Feldman and Corey Haim.

His family said he had died from a genetic liver condition.

A statement on his Facebook page said: "The McCarter family is heartbroken to share the news that Brooke McCarter passed away December 22, 2015 from the genetic liver condition alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AAT). He was 52.

"Brooke was our loving son, brother, father, cousin, nephew and friend.

"Funeral arrangements are still being finalised. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."

McCarter won a modelling competition as a teenager and moved to New York, eventually studying acting in the city.

His film, Thrashin, a skateboarder movie, came out in 1986 and starred Josh Brolin, as well as featuring boarding legend Tony Hawk.

But it was the following year he got his big break in the Lost Boys - a movie which also helped launch the career of a host of '80s stars, including Kiefer Sutherland.

McCarter took a break from acting in 1998 to pursue other interests, but returned to the screen in 2010.

Fans have been paying tribute to him and his memorable role in The Lost Boys.

Dean Fearn tweeted: "RIP @brookemccarter greatest #vampire movie ever! @Corey_Feldman @alxwinter."

"One of my all time favourite ever films. R.I.P Brooke," posted Claire C Riley.

Rhiannon Irons tweeted: "R.I.P Brooke McCarter - Never forget you as Paul from The Lost Boys. Gone far too soon."
