'I couldn’t sleep that night!': B.C. woman bought winning Lotto 649 ticket while passing time waiting for tardy friend
A B.C. woman’s choice to pass the time while waiting on a tardy friend has made her a multi-millionaire.
Trang Dang of Burnaby had picked up a Lotto 649 ticket at a grocery store in New Westminster while waiting for a friend who was late to meet her for dinner. The $10.9-million draw took place on May 28.
"I was at home when I found out I won. I checked the draw results and questioned if these were the right numbers," she said in a statement. "I couldn’t sleep that night!"
Her mother, who’s a regular lotto player, was the first Trang shared the news with.
“My mom was very excited. She plays the lottery even more than me!”
She added that being a lotto winner has changed things for the best.
"It’s life-changing and has made things so much easier," she said.
She plans to spend her winnings on a new home, as well as a trip to Italy, France and Spain.
