“Love Is Blind”’s Chelsea Says Jimmy 'Tried' to Take Her to a Baseball Game Date on Their Wedding Day
The season 6 couple broke up during their final date on the show but tried to mend things in the real world after filming wrapped
Chelsea Blackwell is shedding some light on the brief attempt she and Jimmy Presnell made to date following their breakup on Love Is Blind.
On Tuesday’s episode of The Viall Files, the season 6 contestants debriefed their relationship both on and off the show, with Chelsea, 31, revealing what dating looked like for the pair after Jimmy, 28, told her he would not walk down the aisle with her.
After the show “wrapped,” Jimmy “expressed” a desire to continue to pursue a relationship with Chelsea, she told host Nick Viall. One of their first attempts at doing so sans cameras happened to fall on their would-be wedding day.
“He tried to take me to a baseball game on our wedding day,” Chelsea recalled, though his attempt at romance quickly floundered.
"He just said that the cameras were too much, the pressure was too much. And I was frustrated cause I'm like, ‘You knew this going into this situation,’" she continued. "I was gung-ho, I was ready, I was dedicated. I was ready to get married and really saying yes and agreeing to go on this date with him. We tried for four days and it just wasn’t the same."
Looking back on it, Chelsea said she “screwed up” by letting Jimmy have another chance with her, as “nothing changed” between them. “I'm just so different [now] than I was [while] filming, because if you told me no multiple times and I still give you a chance — shame on me at that point,” she said.
As for their relationship now, Chelsea doubled down as she confirmed: “We are just friends. There is absolutely nothing going on. I've seen what I needed to see. I've been told no multiple times with him. So we are not doing that crap again.”
Chelsea previously told PEOPLE that the pair “dated for a few days after the breakup,” calling it “a journey that we were trying to maneuver together,” though it didn’t work out.
“He has been very wonderful for me during this whole journey,” she said on Tuesday’s episode of The Viall Files. “We did not expect it to be flipped on to me. So he's just been… He's the only one who knows what happened in our relationship and same with me. So for him to kind of come out and really support me and have my back has been very, very helpful.”
The pair’s relationship ultimately came to a head during their final date before their wedding. Jimmy told Chelsea he was not ready or willing to go to the altar with her after a fun day at the amusement park together, and Chelsea told PEOPLE that the breakup “was completely out of left field” for her.
"We were in such a good spot going into that date that I was just over the moon, and so in love. We did so much work on our relationship and we were just in the most amazing spot we could have been in, I thought," she said. "So that whole conversation ... I was definitely taken aback."
She shared that Jimmy was “very concerned” about saying no to her at the altar in front of their gathered family and friends as she elaborated on his decision to end the relationship more privately.
“He was very vocal with me the whole time, and he just really did not want my family to travel and my friends to waste their time and come out there if he knew for sure he was going to say no," she said. "So I think he was just more thinking of wasting my family's time, wasting my time, and just wanted to do it as soon as he had his solidified answer."
