Luciana Damon’s Met Gala After-Party Look Is So Y2K-Coded

Luciana Damon, producer and wife of Hollywood megastar Matt Damon, has always kept it pretty simple, fashion-wise, and we mean that in a positive way. She favors sexy classics, like a black gown with a thigh-slit, a red silk halter dress, or head-to-toe brown for date night. She’s not jumping on flash-in-the-pan fads, she’s more about timeless styles. Which is why we were so pleasantly surprised to see her embracing, of all looks, ’90s streetwear at a Met Gala after-party.

For the red (well, green and beige) carpet, Damon wore a strapless white column dress from Christian Dior, with a ruched bust and a scarf around her neck. Compared to the out-there garments of the night, it was downright minimalist.

But as the Damons headed into the Carlyle Hotel later that night, she was looking less Upper East Side Lady and more downtown in a midriff-baring white tank, mesh skirt, and platform sneakers. (She still carried a white silk clutch, though, which had presumably coordinated with her earlier gown.) For his part, Matt Damon seems to have swapped his white shirt and bow tie for a plain black tee.

Okay, fly girl! Luciana looked a little bit like Jennifer Lopez, one of the Gala’s co-chairs, circa the turn of the millennium. Lopez is also part of the greater Matt Damon cinematic universe, being married to the actor’s best friend and longtime collaborator Ben Affleck.

Truly, my heart goes out to women who wear heels to after-parties, but I’m with my girl Luciana Damon here: If it’s time to dance, it’s time for sneakers.

The pair married in 2005 and renewed their vows in 2013, surrounded by A-list friends including Affleck, his then-wife Jennifer Garner, Robert De Niro, Don Cheadle, Stanley Tucci, Chelsea Clinton, director Gus Van Sant, Met Gala co-chair Chris Hemsworth, and Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. The ceremony was officiated by Jimmy Kimmel. So what I’m getting at is…is Luciana’s style changeup all Lopez’s doing?
