Lucy Fallon makes red carpet return ahead of Coronation Street comeback

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Lucy Fallon has made her return to the red carpet ahead of her upcoming comeback on Coronation Street.

The actress caught up with Corrie co-stars past and present when she attended the Inside Soap Awards on Monday (September 25) — which doubled as one of Fallon's first public outings since she gave birth to her son in February.

The special appearance on the awards red carpet comes on the heels of the big news that Fallon will be reprising her role as Bethany Platt following a three-year absence.

It has been reported that Fallon is expected to be back on set within the coming months to film scenes that will air after the Christmas season.

After taking over the role of the legacy character from Amy and Emily Walton in 2015, Fallon was at the centre of several major storylines on the ITV soap for the next five years.

Viewers were gripped as Bethany struggled with bullying and, later, developed an unrequited crush on mum Sarah Barlow's then-boyfriend Gary Windass.

Perhaps the most impactful storyline Fallon was involved in saw Bethany groomed and exploited by much older boyfriend Nathan Curtis before he was eventually arrested.

Fallon ultimately left Coronation Street in 2020, and recently spoke about how difficult it was to give up the steady work just before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The worst question that you can get asked when you aren’t working is, 'What are you doing now? What are you doing next? What TV show are you going to be on now', as if it just kind of works like that," she recalled on the podcast BTS With….

"I think even though lockdown was horrendous, I sort of enjoyed that time in a way – just not having to worry about the fact people were going to ask me that question."

Bethany will be returning following a difficult few months for her on-screen family the Platts, as her mum Sarah has split up with Adam Barlow and her uncle Stephen Reid could be on the verge of being outed as a serial killer.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
